It’s a Christian metalcore worship track built on the tension between who we used to be and who Christ is calling us to become. The heaviness, the atmosphere, the soaring cleans, everything in it is meant to point back to Jesus and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.

📖 Scripture Inspiration
Primary Scripture:
Galatians 5:24–25 — “Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”
This passage hit me hard during the time I was writing this. It reminded me that following Christ isn’t passive, it’s a daily choice to put the flesh to death and actually walk in the Spirit. That’s the heartbeat of this whole track.

Why this Scripture moved me:
I was dealing with some real selfishness, especially in my marriage, and God used these verses to confront me. It wasn’t comfortable, but it was necessary. Writing this song was part confession, part cry for help, part victory declaration. I needed to crucify the flesh in my own life, not just talk about it.

Crucify the Flesh is a declaration of surrender and laying down the old nature, letting go of pride, sin, and destructive desires, and letting the Spirit lead instead.
The message behind the song is personal for me:
- I’ve felt the weight of my own flesh far too many times.
- I’ve experienced the emptiness of chasing things that don’t satisfy.
- But I’ve also felt the freedom and clarity that comes when Jesus breaks chains and reshapes the heart.
This song is about meeting God at the altar, laying down what’s killing you, and stepping forward as someone who’s been set free. It’s that mixture of pain, conviction, breakthrough, and hope that I wanted listeners to feel.

- The cinematic drum build sets up the tension, much like stepping into a battle that you can feel in your chest.
- The harsh vocals carry the rawness of fighting sin and facing yourself honestly.
- The soaring clean vocals represent surrender, hope, and the freedom Christ gives.
- The guitar work and rhythm sections lean heavy on atmosphere and grit, echoing the breaking of chains and the weight of laying things down.
- The chorus is designed to feel like a declaration, almost a prayer set to music.
Even though AI helps generate the sounds, every part of the writing, direction, tone, arrangement, and emotion comes from a very real place in my walk with Christ.
🙏 Behind the Creation
This song came out of a tough season. I wasn’t proud of how selfish I had been acting in my marriage and in other areas of life, and God was dealing with me directly. It was one of those times where the Holy Spirit won’t let you brush things off anymore.
Sitting down to write Crucify the Flesh was honestly therapeutic. I needed the reminder that the flesh doesn’t get to run my life. I needed to speak truth over myself. And I needed to confess some things before the Lord.
And even though the vocals and instruments are AI-generated, everything else, the final output, the core of the writing, the biblical accuracy, the structure, the direction, the emotion is me, a human. A follower of Jesus who messes up, repents, gets back up, and keeps fighting. This track is part of that process.
