One of the heaviest burdens a believer can carry is watching someone they love walk away from God. It is a unique kind of grief. It’s a sorrow born out of knowing the peace they are missing and the destruction they are walking toward.
“If You Had Known…” is a Worshipcore track born out of that exact sorrow.
This song is not an angry rebuke; it is a desperate, tear-stained prayer. It is for everyone who has spent a thousand nights praying for a lost child, a wandering friend, or a hardened family member. You are not alone in your grief. Jesus felt it too.

📖 Scripture Inspiration
The heartbeat of this song is found in Luke 19:41-44, when Jesus approached Jerusalem and wept over it.
The Lament:
When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known on this day, even you, the conditions for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you when your enemies will put up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, and they will level you to the ground, and throw down your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
The Joy of Return (Luke 15:7):
The bridge and final chorus shift the focus to the hope of the Prodigal Son and the Parable of the Lost Sheep:
I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
🔥 Song Meaning
“If You Had Known…” is about Holy Sorrow and Unyielding Hope.
I wrote this song out of the heavy sorrow in my own heart over people close to me who will not come to Christ. It is agonizing to watch lost souls wander aimlessly, thinking they are okay when they are spiritually starving.
The song shifts from the exhaustion of praying (“I’ve wept until my soul ran dry”) to the triumph of what happens when a sinner finally repents (“There’s joy in heaven”).

🎶 Lyrics
“If you had known the things that make for peace…”
YEAHHH!
I’ve prayed a thousand nights,
I’ve wept until my soul ran dry.
You chase the wind, you chase the night,
But I still call your name to Christ!
My heart breaks as I watch you fall,
The weight of sin it chains us all.
Ohhh!
He wept for the lost, He wept for His own,
“If you had known…”
Come home, oh come home!
The Shepherd still calls through the storm!
Though the night feels endless and cold,
His mercy waits to make you whole!
Yeahhh!
You walk the path that leads to death,
Blind to love with every breath.
I cry out, “Lord, open their eyes!”
Break their chains let truth arise!
Ohhh yeahhh!
He’s patient still, His mercy remains,
He calls your heart by name!
Come home, oh come home!
The Shepherd still calls through the storm!
Though the night feels endless and cold,
His mercy waits to make you whole!
I’ve known the pain of unceasing grief,
The hope deferred, the unbelief.
But heaven rejoices when the lost return!
The fire of grace forever burns!
YEAHHH!
Come home, oh come home!
The Shepherd still calls through the storm!
Though the night feels endless and cold,
His mercy waits to make you whole!
Ohhh!
There’s joy in heaven songs resound,
A sinner lost but now is found!
“If you had known… the things that make for peace.”
COME HOME!
🙏 Behind the Creation
There are millions of believers out there who feel this exact same way. We all have a list of names we bring before the throne of God, begging Him to open their eyes.
If you are exhausted from praying for someone, don’t stop. The Shepherd is still calling through the storm. I wrote this song to give a voice to that grief, but also to remind us of the incredible joy that awaits when they finally come home.
