Strength of My Heart — Song Meaning, Lyrics & When Everything Else Crumbles, He Remains

I have watched the walls fall in. I’ve seen the sheer gravity of stress, addiction, and crisis absolutely crush the people I love. When you are standing in the wreckage of a broken foundation—whether it’s your own failures or the collapse of everything around you—clichés don’t work. Empty positivity doesn’t heal a shattered spirit.

“Strength of My Heart” is the first strike in the “Song Bible” series, and it kicks off Season 1: BROKEN BUT NOT DESTROYED. I wrote this track for the exact moment you look in the mirror and realize you have absolutely nothing left to give. It is a heavy, unrelenting acknowledgment of our complete human weakness, colliding head-on with the indestructible reality of God’s grace.

When your flesh fails, when your heart gives out, and when the kingdom you tried to build turns to sand in your shaking hands, there is only one Rock left to stand on. This song is a declaration of total reliance on Him.

📖 Scripture Inspiration

“My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”Psalm 73:26

This is the anchor for the entire track, and frankly, the anchor for my life right now. The psalmist Asaph doesn’t sugarcoat the human condition. He explicitly admits that his body and his resolve are giving out. But the turning point of the verse—and the turning point of our lives—is those two words: “But God.” When our internal resources are completely bankrupt, His strength becomes our eternal portion.

🔥 Song Meaning

  • The Weight of Failure: The opening verses tackle the brutal reality of looking at our own sin and inadequacy. We try to build our own kingdoms, and we watch them fall apart.
  • The Rejection of Self-Righteousness: This track aggressively attacks the idea that we have to be “worthy” to come to God. Grace isn’t a prize for the strong; it’s a lifeline for the dying.
  • The Ultimate Surrender: The song transitions from a cry of desperation into an anthemic roar of victory. Acknowledging that we are “not enough” isn’t the end—it’s the exact place where God’s love fills the vessel.

🎶 Lyrics

My flesh… my heart… they fail
But You remain

I stare into the mirror and I hate the things I see
Another broken promise, another casualty
I tried to build a kingdom on a foundation made of sand
Now I’m watching it crumble right through my shaking hands
(Oh!)
The gravity of failure is pulling me below
I have nowhere left to run, I have nowhere left to go

I am fading!
I am breaking!
Lord, I am hollowed out!

My flesh and my heart may fail!
(They fail! They fail!)
But God, You are the strength of my heart!
You are the strength of my heart!
When the shadows hide the path and my spirit’s wearing thin
You are my portion forever!
You are where my life begins!

Stop! Don’t tell me that I’m worthy, I know what lies inside
A wretched man seeking a place where he can hide
But grace is not a trophy for the winners of the race
It’s the water for the dying! It’s the saving embrace!
(Yeah!)

I am not enough (You are enough!)
I am not enough (You are enough!)
Take this broken vessel!
Fill it with Your love!

MY. FLESH. MAY. FAIL. BUT. YOU. PREVAIL.
GOD IS THE STRENGTH! OF! MY! HEART! (Blegh!)

My flesh and my heart may fail!
But God, You are the strength of my heart!
You are the strength of my heart!
When the shadows hide the path and my spirit’s wearing thin
You are my portion forever!
You are where my life begins!

You are my portion forever.
(Strength of my heart)
You are my portion forever.

🙏 Behind the Creation

Creating this season didn’t happen in a vacuum; it was forged in an absolute furnace of trials. Behind the scenes, I have been watching my own family members crumble under immense stress. I’ve watched the devastation of drug and alcohol addiction, the stress of courtrooms, the loss of family legacy, mental health crises, and hospital accidents. All of these were seemingly unrelated events, yet interconnected in the way they systematically tested our faith. It was incredibly hard. But God was there for me through every single second of it, and He is there for them even now as they continue to walk through the fire.

In the middle of this chaos, God pushed me to take up the electric guitar. It had always been a quiet goal of mine, but this was unplanned—a sudden, undeniable call to learn to play these anthems with my own two hands. In and of itself, learning an instrument pales in comparison to the heavy life trials surrounding me, but it adds an entirely new element of reliance on Him.

My hands are learning to fret these chords while my heart is learning, over and over again, to let God be my strength. As All Glory Worshipcore evolves, this is the blood and bone I am bringing into the project. When my flesh fails, He does not.
